Scottish Crannog Centre

The Scottish Crannog Centre is an award winning attraction featuring the only authentic recreation of an Iron-Age loch dwelling in Scotland. You can experience life as it was on Loch Tay 2500 years ago through the guided tours, videos and ancient craftwork demonstrations.

Open mid-March to end October.

Huntingtower Castle

Huntingtower Castle is located on the outskirts of Perth and dates from the 15th century. It features a beautiful painted ceiling and has excellent views of the countryside from the castle ramparts. Huntingtower is famous for being the heart of the the mysterious Gowrie Conspirancy of 1582. The castle is open all year.

Loch Leven Castle

Loch Leven CastleThis is the island castle where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in 1567. She eventually escaped with the help of her gaoler's son and within two weeks had fled Scotland, never to return. The castle is accessed via a lovely short ferry trip in an open boat across Loch Leven National Nature Reserve. Open April to September.

Elcho Castle

Elcho is a 16th century fortified mansion with many original features including a courtyard, chapel and round tower with kiln. It overlooks the River Tay close to the hamlet of Rhynd in the south west of Perth. Open April to September.

Killiecrankie Visitor Centre

Killiecrankie has an excellent National Trust for Scotland visitor centre featuring displays of the natural history of the gorge of Killiecrankie and information about the famous battle of 1698. Café, shop, picnic area and delightful walking trails in the ancient woodland beside the River Garry. Site open all year. Visitor Centre open Easter to end October.

Pitlochry Festival Theatre

Perthshire's International Festival Theatre has six shows during each summer season featuring everything from historical dramas, comedies, and tales of murder and intrigue. There are also events during the autumn, winter and spring seasons. Restaurant, coffee shop and art exhibition.

RSPB Vane Farm Nature Reserve

Loch Leven is an international venue for birds and other wildlife. Facilities at the RSPB Vane Farm Centre include 2 nature trails, 3 hides and an observation room - perfect for getting closer to the action, for both casual visitors and enthusiastic birdwatchers.

Blair Castle

Blair Castle is situated in the heart of Atholl Estates in Highland Perthshire. The castle has over 700 years of history. The castle features a walled Hercules Garden and Diana’s Grove, one of the best 'big tree' experiences in Scotland. There is also a Red deer enclosure, Red Squirrel Trail and miles of walking and cycling trails. Open daily from Easter to October plus Tuesday and Saturday mornings in winter.

Queen's View Visitor Centre

Duart Castle Perthshire

The Queen's View Visitor Centre is located in the Tay Forest Park. A group woodland areas in Highland Perthshire. The famous "Queens View" viewpoint is close to the visitor centre where you can enjoy magnificent views across Loch Tummel. Videos, exhibition, tearoom and shop facilities are all available. The viewpoint is open all year. Visitor Centre March to November.

Scone Palace

This historic palace was the crowning site of the Kings of Scots. It has over 100 acres of gardens including pinetum, Murray Star Maze and Acer Garden. Coffee shop, gift shop, Palace Larder and licensed restaurant. Open Easter to end October. Grounds only open Fridays in winter, 10am to 4pm.
